Thomas and Gina’s Story
Thomas and Gina had lived in Maple Grove, MN for 16 years, where they raised two children and made countless memories in their two-story home with a large yard. However, walking up and down the stairs was becoming an annoyance. They were ready to sell their home but weren’t sure where they wanted to go next.
Thomas and Gina were interested in downsizing to a townhome where they could enjoy one-level living in a maintained community. However, they did have some concerns about living in an association. For starters, Thomas was a gourmet cook, and they had an amazing kitchen. He didn’t want to lose that amenity if they downsized. Gina was a master gardener. She was concerned that association rules wouldn’t allow her to grow patio plants and design elaborate landscaping. They met with the Jarrod Peterson Real Estate Group for a consultation after being referred by other past satisfied clients.
How We Can Help
Jarrod and the team listened to Thomas and Gina’s needs and wants for their next home, particularly their desires for a spacious kitchen and outdoor landscaping flexibility. They discussed the sale of their current home and condition of the real estate market. Thomas and Gina discovered they could get a lot more for their two-story home in Maple Grove than they had expected. They decided to focus on the sale of their current property, and once that was settled, they would search for their next dream home in the right location.
Their property sold in six days and was above the asking price! After a smooth inspection and closing, the selling of their home was complete.
During the selling process, Jarrod and his team were still on a lookout for the right property for Thomas and Gina. They found a wonderful new townhome development in Otsego, MN for them to consider. The expansive townhome floorplans featured one-level living with a large sunroom and gourmet kitchen. After selling over 1,000 homes, we have a good knack of knowing what clients want. We knew they were going to love it!
To top it all off, Gina found out that the townhome association allowed gardening off the back patios and allowed owners to customize their landscaping. This was Thomas and Gina’s next home. The build process took five months, and Jarrod and his team found them the perfect rental apartment with a short-term, six-month lease.
Downsizing to a Townhome: A Year Later
Our team has had the pleasure of attending a dinner party at Thomas and Gina’s new home. Thomas fixed a delicious meal (shrimp scampi), and Gina was proudly showing off her personal garden.
