Compassion in the Time of COVID

Compassion in the time of COVID

If COVID-19 has taught us anything, it’s that life can change in ways for which we’re not prepared. It’s challenged us in a manner we could only imagine, individually as well as collectively, testing our patience, resolve, and spirit. But the biggest takeaway from the current situation is that humanity, despite our many flaws and imperfections, have an innate tendency for compassion when times are tough. And times are undeniably tough. Below we highlight how the Jarrod Peterson Real Estate Group is giving back and embracing compassion in the time of COVID.

We’re all in this together

The economic impact from COVID-19 has been especially catastrophic for small local businesses, many of which were forced to shut their doors. Jarrod Peterson, CEO of the Jarrod Peterson Real Estate Group, and his team are tapped into the local community, always looking for ways to help fellow business owners. “This year, the need is especially pressing,” Jarrod explained. “Not only are non-profit organizations hurting, but small businesses, youth athletics, and academic programs are as well.”

Unwavering commitment and teamwork

Jarrod is a board member of the Park Nicollet Foundation and chairs the Fund Development Committee as well as the BE Pink Breast Cancer Awareness efforts of the organization. “I appreciate it so much when businesses step up and give back to the local communities in which they work, live, and play,” he said. “We made a commitment as a team not to reduce our generous community contributions that have been part of our organization’s guiding principles since we began fifteen years ago. Last year, we donated time, money, and other resources to thirty-one worthwhile organizations, and we are definitely on pace to surpass that this year.”

Innovation is the golden rule

One creative way the Jarrod Peterson Real Estate Group helped local businesses in Maple Grove was the development of a Support Local Maple Grove game. It incorporated a Bingo theme and asked the community to support various businesses around town in person as well as on social media. Over $500 in local prizes and gift certificates were awarded to participants over the six-week duration of the contest.

Donna Hawley, owner/operator of Pearle Vision Maple Grove and Maple Grove Eye Doctors, explains, “We were so thankful that Jarrod Peterson and his team included us in this fun contest. He has always been so generous in the community and this game exemplified it one more time.”

Investing in the future

For the eighth year in a row, Jarrod and the team supported the Maple Grove Crimson Football team as a primary sponsor. Their donation of $2,500 helps to provide protective equipment, such as helmets and pads, and other needs to ensure safety on and off the field. They’ve also contributed to the Lyric Arts Theatre in Anoka whose Cabaret was held virtually this year. All the proceeds will go toward ongoing operational costs and theatre staff.
